SIUC's Department of Geography and Environmental Resources focuses on environmental management at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty expertise is in water resources, land use, environmental sustainability, and geospatial techniques. Field work, use of computers, and internships are prominent components of the integrated environmental problem-solving approach in both our under-graduate and graduate programs.

Ellen Esling Receives National Geographic Internship

Junior Ellen Esling is the second Geography and Environmental Resources major to receive a National Geographic internship. She will head to Washington, D.C. next fall.

 

Food Works & Local Sustainable Food Systems

A new tenant at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Illinois Small Business Incubator is working to develop local sustainable food systems, which in turn will enhance the region's economy. See the Saluki Times article.
